Thank you for spending some of your valuable time with me. My name is Alan and I’m an Irish photographic artist based in the Galtee Mountains. I live beneath the Galtees in the Glen of Aherlow.

My images explore the social, economic and agricultural history evidenced in the Galtee Mountains and generate introspection on our relationship with natural landscapes.

In 2024, I’m continuing to focus on “booleying” - the Irish term for the transhumance - in the Galtee Mountains. This is my sole project this year and you can read more about it here: Buaile. I’m also tracing its ongoing development in my blog: Field Notes. I am publishing one at the end of each month and would love your thoughts and feedback as I visit sites and learn about this topic. Please feel free to get in touch with feedback if you are following along.

I also sell beautiful landscape prints showcasing booley sites, the Galtee mountains and the stunning Glen of Aherlow, through the shop on this website. If you have any queries on commissions / prints beyond the scope of this shop, please get in touch via the Contact link at the bottom of the page.

Have a nice day!

Alan.
