Comeraghs
The Comeragh mountains stretch all the way from Dungarvan, County Waterford, to the edges of Clonmel in South Tipperary. It’s a glaciated mountain range, which has led to some wonderful features.
Mahon Falls is one of the most popular attractions in the Comeraghs. The River Mahon spills down the falls to start its journey and winds its way all the way to Bunmahon along The Copper Coast to join the sea.
Nearby, Ned Curran’s cottage (his perimeter wall pictured above) is a stark example of the self-sustained and totally isolated way in which many rural Irish people lived. His cottage sits cushioned beneath the mountains and the front of the house offers a clear view all the way to the coast.
Hinterland also features images shot in spots along the walk to the Nire Lakes, at the famous Coumshingaun lake, and images captured along the “Mountain Road” over the Comeraghs.
